Our favorite characters stories come to happy endings in the future in the series finale of the show.
Parks and Recreation was set in a league of career and work oriented comedies like The Office but soon found its own distinction among all the shows. The reason attributable to the success of the show rests chiefly on the shoulders of the cast members who have kept the show as interesting as the pilot.

Parks and Recreation might not have tweaked major ratings but it has in a way, created a devoted fan following who love and adore the show. For all those fans, it was hard to see their favorite show go. The only thing that had made this bitter ending sweet was a phenomenal finale and "One Last Ride" co-written by creator Michael Schur and Amy Poehler managed to give that last moment to the fans at the end of the seventh season.
The show, as a fan pointed out was like Harry Potter. Set in the future, with all the characters happy and very much in love. The show had its own stories to end happily. So how did the stories of our beloved characters of the fictional town of Pawnee, Indiana, such as Amy Poehler's Leslie Knope, Nick Offerman's Ron Swanson, Aubrey Plaza's April Ludgate, Chris Pratt's Andy Dwyer and Aziz Ansari's Tom Haveford ended in the future?
The duration covered in the finale ranged from 2019 to 2048. Kick started by a man who came to fix the swing at the park making Leslie coming to ask for help from her co-workers. Flash in to the future and Leslie has run for governor of Indiana. She is shown receiving an honor from Indiana University in the year of 2035.
She also ended up with her long time love interest Ron so all the people who have been drawn to the powerful and inspiring character of Leslie, rest assured that our favorite office worker has nothing but happiness and success written in her future. For Ron, his initial beliefs against parks and recreations take a U-turn as he retires from Very Good Building and Development Company and becomes a superintendent at Pawnee National Park.
Who finally had a baby? Andy and April of course finally! Since its Andy and April, it has to be something totally bizarre right? So their baby is born in 2022 on a Halloween Party with April wearing a costume and horrible makeup. The child ends up getting named Burt Snakehole Ludgate Karate Dracula Macklin Demon Jack-o-Lantern Dwyer. Just Jack might do but poor kid.
Tom’s failure finally pays off into his success as he publishes a book called "Failure: An American Success Story” which ends up being a bestseller. So Tom enlists everything non-Tom to become successful.
Craig finds his soulmate Typhoon while singing gigs at Tom's Bistro. Donna starts an after school program called “Teach Yo Self”
So there’s a funeral scene and who died? Gary dies apparently after celebrating his 100th birthday. With Gayle at his side, Gary takes his last few breaths and the crew gathers to pay him their respect. They find out that Jean-Ralphio, who they thought was dead actually faked it and is now running a casino Mona Lisa in Tajikistan with the money he collected from his insurance policy.
It could not have gotten any better as the 40 minutes run of the show was adored by all fans. They were happy and nostalgic at the same time. The character people will miss the most is of course Amy Poehler’s Leslie Knope. Amy has devoted herself to the show and her character and others have been symbolical to our own problems at work and how to charge ahead and take control of their lives. If a show inspires to do that, then it has been a successful run and for seven years no less.
