The singer went through few difficult months before finally realizing that he has a mental disorder

Creed’s lead singer Scott Stapp, who has a long troubled past, opened up for the first time what was exactly going on with him in the last few months.

In a recent interview with People, Scott talked about that difficult period of his life and also revealed that he was struggling with bipolar disorder and now he is in recovery.

“I’m lucky to be alive,” Scott said. “I had a psychotic break that was brought on by alcohol and drug abuse. I was hallucinating. I drove around the United States for a month, following an angel that I saw on the hood of my car.”

He continued. “In my delusional thinking, I thought my family was involved in ISIS and that millions of dollars had been taken from me to support terrorism. All of it was nonsense. I was out of my mind.”

In November of last year, Scott posted a devastating 16-minute video on Facebook, in which he claimed that he is broke, homeless and also “under some kind of pretty vicious attack” because his funds in his bank accounts have been stolen by the people. Many sources also reported that few days ago before Scott released the video, he was placed on a short-term psych hold in Florida.

A month later, his wife, Jaclyn told a 911 dispatcher that his husband thinks he is a part of CIA and is supposedly assigned to kill president Obama. That was what Scott was thinking about himself at that time and his behavior was getting more and more erratic and irrational.

Therefore, Jaclyn filed for a divorce and judge awarded her the legal and physical custody of their three children and also ordered that Scott will not be permitted to stay in family home.

After hitting rock bottom, Scott went into an intensive treatment and there he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, a condition that causes extreme mood swings and disturbance in function.

Scott Stapp admits he was initially shocked with the news but went through successfully with the support of his wife. “It was hard to process. There’s a stigma associated with it. But Jaclyn kept telling me. ‘Embrace it. We love you.’ It became a big sign of relief because finally, we had an answer.” Scott said.

Scott also told that he is having intensive therapy and also taking medication to deal with bipolar disorder.
