The 31-year old rapper sustained wounds as a result of close-range gunshot firing

The 31-year old rapper, whose original name was Lionel Pickens, died after multiple gunshots fired at him in close range at Queens Boulevard and 84th Drive.
Chinx sustained wounds in the shooting and was rushed to the Jamaica Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead afterwards.
New York Police Department reports that around 4 a.m., a car pulled alongside Chinx’s silver, late-model Porsche and opened fire on the rapper and his 27-year old friend sitting beside him through the half open driver’s side window.
The rapper was struck by at least eight gunshots but somehow managed to pull his car in front of a donut shop while the other car drove away. Taken to the hospital, Lionel died due to serious wounds while his friend, Antar Alziadi, who was also in critical condition, survived. Police said he is now stable after bullet left two wounds to his back and punctured his lung.
Chinx Drugz was best known as a member of Coke Boys, a group and record label founded by rapper French Montana. He was an up-and-coming rapper, who was considered in a vote for XXL Magazine’s Freshmen 10th Spot. The personalities, who make their way into the XXL Freshmen classes, often end up getting mainstream success. Some of the names include Iggy Alazea, Kendrick Lamar and Macklemore. Chinx was also working on his first solo album “Welcome to JKF”.
The atmosphere turned mournful in the neighborhood of Chinx in Far Rockaway, Queens and on Monday, the residents paid tribute to the late rapper, New York Times reports.
Many celebrities also reacted on the fatal shooting incident and expressed their grief such as rapper Meek Mill, Khloe and Robert Kardashian.
