Producer, director and screenwriter Shonda Rhimes is all set to publish her first book.

The book, which is titled “Year of Yes”, will hit the bookshelves in November this year, publisher Simon and Schuster officially announced on Tuesday and it will be based on the fact that how saying “Yes” to everything unexpected this entire year brought success to the life of Rhimes.

“Saying yes for an entire year turned out to be one of the most amazing decisions I have ever made,” Shonda Rhimes said in a press release. “It was also a little insane, a lot terrifying and sometimes wildly embarrassing. So this is not a story I ever planned to share with anyone. However, once Simon & Schuster asked me, i had no choice - what else could i say but yes?"

The 45-year old Shonda Rhimes talked about year of yes in her interview with “Dartmouth Alumni Magazine” as well. According to the Magazine, it all started around the Christmas of 2013 when her sister pointed out that she is refusing too much. “So my New Year’s Resolution was to say yes to things that scare me.” Rhimes said. Her first dare was when she gave Dartmouth’s Commencement Speech in 2014. “I don’t like public speeking,” Rhimes told when she was asked for commencement speech and she responded with a yes. “As soon as I hung up the phone, I was like, ‘I can’t believe I said yes to that.”

Shonda Rhimes is the creator and executive producer of hit series “Grey’s Anatomy” and political thriller “Scandal”. She is among TIME’s one of the most influential people in the world and was also named one of 50 most powerful women in business by Fortune.

“It’s mind-boggling that the mega-talented Shonda Rhimes, one of the most admire and accomplished women in Hollywood, would feel the need to change her status quo,” Marysue Rucci, the Simon & Schuster vice president and editor-in-chief said. “But by saying yes for a year, she truly transformed her life for the better in every way.”
