Facebook's Oculus is hosting a special event today revealing the details of the consumer version of the Rift Virtual Reality system. Will Oculus surprise and blow our Geek Minds?
Oculus can be credited with kicking off the new Virtual Reality wave. In the early 90s consumer virtual reality was a big topic but it failed. Now Oculus is taking aim to bring the Rift virtual reality system to consumers in Q1 of 2016. Today on June 11, Oculus is holding a special press event in San Francisco to present the future of virtual reality, gaming, the Rift, and more.

The production Oculus Rift builds on the presence, immersion of the current Crescent Bay prototype with an improved tracking system that supports both seated and standing experiences, as well as a refined industrial design, and updated ergonomics for a more natural fit. This means it will still be a bulky system This is also what the dark photos of the consumer Rift channels.
The Rift also requires a decent PC with a mid to top range graphics card. This is what we know so far. The overall cost for a PC and the Rift VR system are around $1,500. If thing does not offer virtual sex its going to be a hard sell for the average consumer. There are though lots of professional applications and of course gamer will want one if they can afford it.
