The wife and the son of a Texan firefighter sustained serious injuries in a car crash and he did not have enough money to pay the medical bills.
Taylor Swift showed heartwarming generosity to a request for donation.
A Texan volunteer firefighter named Aaron Van Riper heard a call regarding a head -on car crash on past Saturday. When he arrived on the scene, he was shocked to learn that his own wife and 7-year old son were among the victims and were fighting for their lives.
“It’s my family. My wife was lying there on the ground. By the look of the car, I don’t know how either one of them lived. There was nothing left of that car.” Aaron, who was the assistant chief for the Thomas Lake Fire Department, told ABC.
Both his wife Amber and son Jonathan were rushed to the hospital. His wife suffered five fractures in her pelvis and had to undergo a 9 hours of surgery on Sunday in order to repair the affected area while his son who had a broken leg and a broken arm as a consequence of the horrifying incident, also had a surgery. However, the family did not have insurance.
A friend quickly set up a GoFundMe page to raise money to help pay medical expenses. On Wednesday night, a donation for $15,000 appeared on the page and it was signed “Taylor Swift.” Many sources including Billboard and BuzzFeed News confirmed that the amount really came from the “Bad Blood” singer.
The son has been reportedly released from the hospital while Aaron’s wife is still hospitalized. Though, her condition is not serious.
