Jurassic World has beaten Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, which earned $483.2m in the opening weekend world-wide. Jurassic World is the first movie to rake in over half-a-billion in the opening weekend. So why has Jurassic World achieved this? Is Chris Pratt the reason? No.
The reason are the dinosaurs. Kids have a never ending obsession with dinosaurs. This is why Jurassic World sticks with a PG-13 rating and producers did not go for R, which geeks would have liked to see. Almost all kids are into dinosaurs and know their complicated names by heart. Lego knows that too and the Jurassic World sets are in high demand. Lego does not stop there and also released the Lego Jurassic World video game.
Jurassic World time warps 22 years into the future of Jurassic Park. Isla Nublar now features a fully functioning dinosaur theme park, Jurassic World, as originally envisioned by John Hammond.
