Starbucks, the coffee giant has an eatables scheme that is supposed to attract customers to its huge outlets.
Eatables and comestibles are a very important part of the philosophy of Starbucks besides its coffee output. The reason behind this is that new customers are always welcome at the establishment. It makes for lots of profit and the popularity of the barista spot is enhanced to boot.
Ever since Starbucks acquired La Boulange these efforts have not gone to waste. Most recently a 16% food-related growth rate was evident and overall the “coffee and company” firm has seen a 2% burgeoning in all its departments.
Its breakfast sandwiches have sales figures that have risen by 35% and as for the lunch menu, it has seen a lot of progress too. The higher tier of classy food products have really taken off with the acquisition of La Boulange.
The store’s products are liked a lot in both the United States and Canada. However, Starbucks is going to be shutting down all of the 23 La Boulange outlets by the fall season of this year. The problem seems to be some rough estimates that were made for the future. And the trends show that the upkeep of all La Boulange stores was a near impossibility.
"As Starbucks stays steadfast in its commitment to achieve long-term growth targets enterprise-wide, it is with careful consideration the company shares the difficult decision to close all 23 La Boulange retail (bakery cafés) locations, as well as the two manufacturing facilities that serve those locations, by the end of September 2015," the coffee giant said in a statement posted on its official website.
While the delectable food items of La Boulange will continue to be served at Starbucks outlets, the stores themselves will vanish without a trace with the passage of time. The workers at the La Boulange stores are being briefed on the matter. Since the issue is a sensitive one, these staff members are being handled with care. The transition to new jobs is being arranged for them as smoothly as possible.
However, the original goal of Starbucks which is to increase its food department has not been abandoned. It will gain the gigantic sum of $2 billion within the next half decade or so. This new strategy by Starbucks is meant to make it master of its own food production and distribution.
Starbucks wants to be its own man. Finally, the coffee giant will be a bakery to boot. And the La Boulange stores that have a delicate French décor in their internal settings will be a thing of the past. Basically, what has happened is that the parent company has decided to liquidate some of its inner sub-units and take over their functions on a personal basis.
