The song ‘Rockin in the Free World’ was sung by Neil Young in 1989 and is considered a rock classic. Apparently Neil Young was not pleased by the use of his song in the Billionaire Republican Donald Trump’s launch for the presidential campaign.
On Tuesday night, Elliot Roberts, a representative of Neil Young, gave out a statement to the Los Angeles Times which showed Young’s displeasure at the use of his song in Trumps campaign.
According to the statement Neil Young, a Canadian native, does not support Donald Trump for the 2016 Presidential campaign and instead he supports Bernie Sanders a Democrat who is the complete opposite of Donald Trump in the political spectrum.
“Donald Trump was not authorized to use ‘Rockin' in the Free World’ in his presidential candidacy announcement,” Neil Young's representative said in the statement. “Neil Young, a Canadian citizen, is a supporter of Bernie Sanders for president of the United States of America.”
The statement was issued a mere hours after Donald Trump announced his bid as President of USA. Roberts also shared Trump had no right to use the song ‘Rockin in the Free World’ without authorization for his candidacy.
Donald Trump on the other hand was not fazed by the criticism and one of his spokesperson also gave out a statement saying the song was obtained for Donald Trump’s campaign through a licensed agreement with the ASCAP.
