Oscar winning actress Nicole Kidman calls Hollywood ‘Not an even playing field’ for women due to lack of good acting roles.
Nicole Kidman is yet another veteran Hollywood actress who is shedding light on the gender inequality issue in Hollywood. According to the Academy Award winning actress there are not enough opportunities for women in the film industry and more avenues need to be established.

When asked about her views on the biased concerning women in the film making industry, Kidman described Hollywood as ‘Not an even playing field’ and it is obvious work needs to be done on the issue. Kidman gave the statement while attending the red carpet for the Women in Film's Crystal + Lucy Awards on Tuesday in Los Angeles.
Kidman stated women in Hollywood have been coming together to work on creating a change but more work needs to be done. Kidman also shared little girls need to be made more confident not just as actresses but as filmmakers who can pick up cameras and tell stories.
At the event Nicole Kidman was honoured with the award ‘Crystal Award for Excellence In Film’ for her achievements in her film and TV career and for hosting the organizations program dinner.
Kidman is yet another actress who has raised her voice on the gender inequality issue in Hollywood. Previously actresses such as Meryl Streep and Kristen Stewart also talked about the unfairness of the situation where women are also paid less than men.

At the same event the director of film ‘Selma’ Ava DuVernay also stated female filmmakers are often overlooked and called Hollywood the equivalent to the boyfriend who doesn’t call regularly for women. DuVernay was also honored with the Dorothy Arzner Director's Award at the event on Tuesday night.
