Following the success of the first film directed by Garry Marshall with a gross of over $165 million and the cultural impact it had, a second installment was released in 2004. The sequel entitled The Princess Diaries: Royal Engagement was the debut movie of the actor Chris Pine and the script was written by the renowned screenwriter Shonda Rhimes.
