Leading up to the kiss Kidman shared a story from back when she was a 14 year old and had been asked for a role in a student film. Kidman shared before she won an Oscar, an aspiring female director by the name of Jane Campion had offered Kidman a role in a student film entitled ‘A Girls Own Story’; however Kidman had declined to do the part.
According to Kidman, she had excused herself saying she had finals but the truth was Kidman rejected the role because there was a scene in the student film asking for Kidman to kiss a girl in a shower cap.
At the time Kidman aspired to be an actress with flowing hair who kissed boys and not girls, therefore she rejected that role but now she knows better and is willing to take the plunge even 33 years later.
Kidman declared if Jane Campion is out there she should know Kidman is ready to don the shower cap. Kidman then promptly wore a shower cap after the speech and so did her pal Naomi Watts as they shared a smooch on stage.
The crowd cheered and applauded the pair for shedding light on female empowerment and Jane Campion if present now would be proud her work inspired the Oscar winner Kidman to take the plunge.
