The controversial nation says that they have developed a cure for Ebola and AIDs, among others.

North Korea has just released a statement that says that their scientists have succeeded in an area that many other people in the world have failed: they have managed to find a cure for many of the diseases plaguing the rest of the world, including Ebola, MERS, and AIDS. The much maligned country says that they have found one drug that can cure all three without side effects.

ABC News references the pro-North Korea website Minjok Tongshin and the Korean Central News Agency who both said scientists developed Kumdang-2 from ginseng grown from fertilizer mixed with rare-earth elements. According to one source, the drug was originally produced in 1996.

"Malicious virus infections like SARS, Ebola and MERS are diseases that are related to immune systems, so they can be easily treated by Kumdang-2 injection drug, which is a strong immune reviver," KCNA said.

North Korea most recently stopped any tourists from entering the country during the Ebola outbreak, citing the safety of their citizens. There were no reported cases of the disease in the country. However, the country is said to be battling respiratory infections, tuberculosis, and other disease, according to the World Health Organization.

It is also important to note that North Korea said the exact same thing about the exact same drug when avian flu was a problem in 2006.

Interestingly enough, North Korea's rival South Korea just announced that they have killed nearly two dozen people.

There hasn't been any discussion about whether or not the rest of the world will be looking at the drug to see if it actually works.
