Google Launches News Lab to Help Journalists

The Google News Lab is definitely ready to rock.

Journalism ought to show high quality and finesse or it is not worth the gamble. News is supposed to take the side of the truth and allow a nation to talk to itself. It is this self-dialogue that keeps things sane enough for reality to remain intact.

The masses and the leadership both cooperate and hear each other’s grievances thanks to the news. Google’s main mission is to provide quality news updates to the common man. That is why News Lab has been set up by Google.

News Lab is where high technology meets media reporting. Both journalists and the economic heroes of free enterprise will cooperate to create the best that the mass media has to offer to the public.

Among the implements at the disposal of News Lab are Maps and YouTube not to mention Fusion Tables and Earth and Search. The journalists of the world may gain access to these resources. This is just the beginning of data journalism. Google Trends provides the raw materials for the latest news bytes. There are Hackathons and TechRaking Summits among the highlights.

Novel exploratory tools such as drones are the “in” thing among reporters today. Reporters gather the information and then collate it. Finally they seal it into the form of a news story and it gets broadcast to the world of news consumers and culture-hungry individuals in a jiffy.

The news represent precisely what is new and happening at the moment. Once it becomes old hat it goes out the window. There is no more room for the old and stale news in the minds of the public for they want something novel and exciting. The issue of the present moment constitutes the gist of the storyline.

Google, in the capacity of possessing the world’s largest search engine, is a giant among giants. It has set up so many ventures and its whole philosophy and credo is geared towards the avoidance of evil.

There is the obvious trend of big corporations and big government being totally evil. So Google tries to keep its image neat and clean and free of the taint of evil practices.

Google’s information may not be 100% accurate but it is gleaned and then sifted from much that is of value. Only after a lot of winnowing does it reach the Net geeks and freaks. And by then it is pure information that is in a closer state to knowledge and even wisdom than its previous raw state.
