The sequel entitled ‘Independence Day Resurgence’ was recently announced by the director Roland Emmerich.
The sequel to the popular alien movie ‘Independence Day’ released in 1996 has been announced. The next Independence Day installment is entitled ‘Independence Day Resurgence’ and was announced by the director Roland Emmerich on Twitter. The reboot title was announced with a picture of Roland Emmerich on set in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
One of the original stars Jeff Goldblum has promised already the sequel will be more ‘Spectacle’ than the audience have even seen before and will deliver much more than the original film. The original film ‘Independence day’ released in the year 1996 showed the character of Jeff Goldblum and Will Smith teaming up to battle an alien invasion and save the world from their wrath.
The sequel ‘Independence Day resurgence’ will continue the story about 20 years later and the original star Jeff Goldblum will return. The character of David Levinson played by Goldblum will now be in charge of a space defence operation known as the Earth Space Defence.
According to Goldblum the film will be unique because the director Emmerich will be adding his own special brand of human sweetness to the sequel in a story about the people. Goldblum even promised the weaponry and technology will be amazingly futuristic as they will be merging alien technology with their own human ingenuity.
The cast for the reboot will also include new additions such as Liam Hemsworth who will play the role of Jake Morrison, in addition to Jessie Usher, Maika Monroe, Judd Hirsch, Sela Ward as President Lanford and Charlotte Gainsbourg. Bill Pullman who played the President of US will also return in a supporting role. Independence Day Resurgence will be released by next year in June 2016.
