Chad Kroeger has cyst on his vocal box. He is undergoing a surgery as advised by the doctors
Rock band Nickelback is cancelling its reminder of North American tour after lead singer Chad Kroeger is diagnosed with cyst on his vocal cords and has to undergo a surgery to treat it.
The band posted a video and a statement on its official website on Tuesday.
“I am sorry I have to interrupt the party this summer and I am definitely not thrilled with the prospect of being silent for many weeks to come when I could be out there playing for our fans,” Chad Kroeger said in the statement. “I am relying on my doctor and his team to help get my vocal back in good form as quickly as possible.”
According to the website, it will take 3 weeks for Kraoger to fully recover after the surgery.
In the video, Chad’s brother and band bassist Mike Kroeger apologized fans for this abrupt cancelation.
“We completely understand people will be upset about this but unfortunately I don’t know what you do in these situations…sometimes these things happen, and we need him to properly take care of his voice so we can continue to do this and have people come to shows and continue to play for our fans,” Mike said. “So apologies to everybody who made plans for the summer to come and see the rest of the show.”
Nickelback’s world tour, which is entitled No Fix Address, began in February 2015. The band was due to perform in United States, Canada, Australia and a number of European countries including Germany, Switzerland, Denmark, Norway, Austria and France before ending in December 7 this year.
The Canadian band had just returned to United States for its second North American leg after playing in Australia and Japan in June 2. They will be back on work on September 30 with their concert in Finland as suggested in their website. Their next tour to North America is expected in 2016.
