Donald Trump's comments are inconsistent with Macy's values, says management
Something new is happening everyday ever since Donald Trump has announced his presidential campaign last month.
Macy’s departmental store chain is now ending its business relationship with Trump over his hateful remarks about immigrants behind NBCUniverse, which also decided to cut ties with real estate magnet and businessman earlier this week.
Macy’s issued a statement on Wednesday morning, notifying that they are pulling down Donald Trump’s brand merchandise from its stories.
“Macy’s is a company that stands for diversity and inclusion. We have no tolerance for discrimination in any form. We welcome all customers, and respect for the dignity of all people is the cornerstone of our culture.”
The statement continued. “We are disappointed and distressed by recent remarks about immigrants from Mexico. We do not believe the disparaging characterizations portray an accurate picture of many Mexicans, Mexican Americans and Latinos who have made so many valuable contributions to the success of our nation.”
“In the light of statement made by Donald Trump, which are inconsistent with Macy’s values, we have decided to discontinue our business relationship with Mr. Trump and will phase-out the Trump menswear collection, which has been sold at Macy’s since 2004.”
Donald Trump also has his say on this issue.
“I have decided to terminate my relationship with Macy’s because of the pressure being put on them by outside resources. While selling Trump ties and shirts at Macy’s is a small business in terms of our dollar volume, my principles are far more important and therefore much more valuable.”
“Clearly, NBC and Macy’s support illegal immigration, which is totally detrimental to the fabric of our great country. Both Macy’s and NBC totally caved at the first sight of potential difficulty with special interest groups who are nothing more than professional agitators, who are not looking out for the people they purport to represent, but only for themselves.”
In another statement, Trump also urged people to boycott Macy’s products for its week stance on illegal immigration.
Donald Trump is facing battles on many fronts. He has filed a $500 million lawsuit against Spanish American television network Univision for cancelling Miss USA broadcast, scheduled later this month and labeled NBCUniverse as “weak and foolish” for not airing either Miss USA or Miss Universe pageants.
