A new twitter feature will wish you Happy Birthday by showing you digital balloons and ads on your birthday.

A new feature about wishing birthdays has been released by Twitter. In the feature if you enter your date of birth, Twitter will wish you a Happy Birthday by sending you a message along with displaying animated balloons on your profile.

The date of birth can now be set in the settings and will be visible on your profile page. The feature has been activated today and from now on Twitter will not only let you celebrate your birthday but it will also wish you a Happy Birthday.

To add your date of birth on Twitter users will have to open the menu settings and click on the edit profile button. Moreover the addition of the birth date will be optional, so you may or may not have to add it and can even make it custom i.e. whomever you want to show t to or not.

Similarly the settings will also allow users to add their date of birth along with their month but they can omit the year they were born in so as not to reveal their age.

If it’s your birthday Twitter will whole heartedly wish you by sending you messages along with digital balloons on your screen and happy birthday tweets of different nature. However sources report Twitter will be using the feature for marketing purposes so it can determine which ads you want to see.

The support database of Twitter also confirmed it will use the date of birth to show users more relevant data content such as ads. The privacy settings will not matter since Twitter will still show the users the ads it believes it wants to see.
