Megabots founders Gui Cavalcanti and Matt Oehrlein are the new most famous geeks in America. The challenge to Japan to engage in fight of giant robots has gone viral. Now that Japans's giant robot maker Suidobashi Heavy Industries has accepted the story made headlines around the world.

The fight beteween Megabots Mark II and Kuratas will take place in about a year. The details of the fight have to be still hashed out. The next stop for the giant Megabots Mark II robot is though Comic-con in San Diego this weekend.
The Megabots guys are now one of the biggest stars at the Comic-Con 2015 kicking off tomorrow July 9. Megabots shared a photo of them loading the Mark II on a truck.
The original mission of Megabots is to create a sports league for giant piloted robots fighting in arena combat. The robot battle between America and Japan could be trigger point of that mission becoming reality. A lot will depend on how exciting the robot battle will be. It needs to be an exciting thing to watch - and not just for geeks. If the fight is going to great entertainment, giant robot battles could become as big as wrestling one day.
The Comic-con convention is celebrating 45 year anniversary this year. Comic-Con International: San Diego began in 1970 when a group of comics, movie, and science fiction fan including the late Shel Dorf, Ken Krueger, and Richard Alf came together to put on the first comic book convention in southern California.
