Scientific researchers have found a new particle and they have termed it the pentaquark. It is something altogether novel in the world of quantum mechanics.
The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) has proven to be crucial in the discovery of new particles. And a new one that was grabbed from the smaller side of the universe was the pentaquark. It was detected on Tuesday.

Theories as to its existence had been doing the rounds since the 60s. But now an actual pentaquark has been found. By the way, the LHC is the most powerful atomic smasher on the face of the earth.
The Higgs Boson was found via the LHC too. The pentaquark was a way Nature employed to form a combination of quarks in a manner that was never seen in the past half a century or so.
The research into the matter might lend us fresh insights into how protons and neutrons of which we are made have been put together in the first place. The LHC was revamped after a two year hiatus and now scientists are pretty excited to be discovering the hidden depths of the universal forces that surround us.
CERN is also doing its part in the search for unknown particles. But at the LHC there are many buildings which surround its collision tunnels. And here research is carried out on an intensive level.
The particles travel at the speed of light and as they collide within the structure of the LHC, they release subatomic quarks and bosons and all sorts of other micro-level magical music of the spheres. The dividing line between matter and its opposite in space as well as a study of quarks is being carried out at the LHC.
Matter was given a new angle when in 1964 an American physicist showed that baryons consist of quarks. This Nobel Prize winner also laid down the postulate for other particles known as mesons. It is his research whose continuation has led to the discovery of the pentaquark.
As for the future it is going to be spent in finding out how the various quarks are arranged inside the structure of the pentaquark. This will require time and patience. The scientists are at it again for the sake of science and they will hopefully discover new subatomic particles within the subatomic particles. There is after all a virtual zoo of particles that lies at the micro-level universe just awaiting discovery.
