It's misty what that implies for different markets. If you check the official Samsung's sites for Canada, Australia, UK, and Singapore, you will find that the 128GB variant is still listed but the discontinuation cannot be guaranteed from these countries too.To those who don’t know, Samsung released its flagship Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge in India in April.
The distinctive option in the two flagships’ was the availability of massive internal storage of 128 GB after Samsung decided to remove the MicroSD card slot. At first, Samsung reduced the prices of both Smartphones in India, Galaxy S6 was reduced by Rs. 8,000 while Galaxy S6 Edge by Rs. 9,000.
But after some time the availability has been discontinued all over India. The reason which can be surmised from the behavior of Samsung can said to be the over pricing of Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, which was not easily affordable for the general middle class population of India.
The news broke after the images of the Samsung’s official website went viral in which only 32 GB and 64 GB variants are listed for both Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. The website does not mention anything about the 128GB version at all.
Initially, Samsung Galaxy S6 was launched at the price of 61,900($970) while Galaxy S6 Edge was released at the price of 70,900 ($1110); both the prices of 128GB model. So, as guessed above the high prices can be the reason behind the discontinuation of both cell phones in India.
Moreover, the sales decreased for the both the cell phones for the 128GB version, so it was a good step on the part of Samsung. Samsung is all set to announce the Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge, and is looking forward to expand its presence in more countries.
