The main character is Cara Delevingne
Mostly known for her modeling work, Cara has expressed that she had always want to be an actress. She named Meryl Streep as her ultimate inspiration and idol. Cara has been featured in various movies but none of them had caught enough attention for the 22 years old.
This would be Cara’s first main role in a major project and many hope that it would be the same claim to fame for her as The Fault in Our Stars was for Shailene Woodley. There are no guarantees though. Shailene also has the corresponding Divergent movie to seal her place and people are looking at Cara’s role in Suicide Squad as Enchantress.
Cara says that she got the role by merit
Cara has expressed that people are not taking her movie career seriously. Most just assume that she is getting movie roles because of her already famous status as a model that is earning her movies. She has made it very clear that the roles that she had gotten before and her role in Paper Towns is purely on the basis of merit rather than her fame.
She told Time that she would like to think that her role of Margo in Paper Towns is really because she had worked hard for it and she was a good enough actor to land the role. After all she is filling some pretty big shoes after Shailene Woodley has set such a high standard for a John Greene movie already.
Orlando is where it goes down
It is a very important thing when you are watching an adaptation of a book that where it is situated. Some writers always have a pet place with John Grisham and Nicholas Sparks mostly sticking to South Carolina and the Southern states and John Connolly sticking to Maine, John Greene revealed that Paper Towns is based in Orlando which helps the audience get into the mind frame especially with a scene featuring the two main characters looking over the whole town filled with lights.
Paper Town is a metaphor
The story title Paper Town is a metaphor to explain the entire story. Paper Town, which implies fake is the theme to follow. According to John Greene, we imagine the reality of our crushes and our love based idols in such a way that they seem almost fantastical. Greene said that Quentin, the main character and narrator of the story also visualizes his neighbor and crush in the same way which leads him to believe and assume things about her that are not entirely true.
Friends and imaginary friends
Following on the same theme of what one imagines and what a person truly is, the book signifies just how much knowing about someone actually lets you to imagine them better. Quentin’s own mind is seen to be conflicted about how real Margo is on the basis of how much he had imagined about her and what he had based his ideas about her on.
When she disappears, he believes that he is the only one who can find her because he knows her meanwhile Margo’s own best friend questions his role in Margo’s disappearance. It is soon evident that Quentin’s friends who tag along with him in his quest to find Margo are much more realistic and stronger characters than Margo and that is because Quentin knows him and that is the reason, Margo remains such a mystery to him. It’s a road trip movie. The gang head out in their car following clues to find Margo.
The trailer features some fun shots of them grabbing food from a gas station store and making a run for it and going places that Margo is leading them to find them out. While they are taking that road trip, they also discover themselves. So Margo is like a character that despite being absent lead them to embark on an adventure. She is the adventure part of the movie.
