Angry Birds 2 Passed 20M Downloads In Just A Week

Angry Birds is getting great reviews with 20 million downloads in just a week.

Rovio Entertainment recently announced that Angry Birds 2 has passed the 20 million mark for downloads only in its first week of release.

It definitely has turned into a big hit. Finally after the long wait of 5 years, Angry Bird 2 has rocked the game market once again.

Rovio creative director Patrick Liu said in a statement: “When we were developing and testing Angry Birds 2, we had good reason to believe we were on to a good thing, but the enormous groundswell of enthusiasm for the game from loyal fans and casual newcomers alike has been humbling, It took the first Angry Birds game more than nine months to reach this many players, and we thank all our fans for growing the flock so quickly.”

The game has received the title for being top on the iPhone and iPad across 100 countries. Fans have fired their slingshots more than 1.4 billion times and blasted their way through more than 300 million levels, Rovio said.

The game is a hit on Android too, launching over 1.4 billion birds at the dastardly pigs, beating the game's levels over 300 million times.

Angry Birds 2 is also a major hit in China. It is because of the partnership between Rovio and Kunlin.

Rovio’s chief commercial officer Alex Lambeek remarked on the situation in a statement, “While Angry Birds 2 is off to a great start around the world, including key markets in the Americas and Europe, in China we are gaining a new foothold and seeing remarkable fruits of our well-functioning partnership with Kunlun. A new generation of Chinese gamers is getting to know the angry feathered flock, and we see a bright future together with Kunlun, one of the Chinese game industry’s largest and most important players.”

It seems that Angry Bird 2 has fulfilled our expectations. It is currently on the No. 47 on the top-grossing games list. If it moves up that chart, then Rovio will have some real money on its hands.
