According to their report data of more than 2.4 million users has been stolen. The cyber-attack is being believed to be sophisticated. A specific division of Carphone Warehouse has been hit by the attack.
Encrypted credit card information of more than 90,000 people was taken. Other information accessed by the hackers includes names, addresses, dates of birth and bank details.
A spokesperson for Carphone Warehouse stated to BBC that the attack had been stopped as soon as it was discovered. The cyber-attack was discovered in the Carphone Warehouse system on Wednesday afternoon. Evidence indicates the attack began two weeks before its discovery on Wednesday.
Sebastian James is the group chief executive of Dixons Carphone. According to James they take the security of their customers very seriously. James further stated they are sorry how the attack will affect its customers.
They are also informing everyone affected. Additional security measures are also being put into place. Customers are also being contacted to advise them on how to minimize the risk.
The division of Carphone Warehouse attacked runs the sites OneStopPhoneShop.com, e2save.com and Mobiles.co.uk. The division also provides services to iD Mobile, TalkTalk Mobile and Talk Mobile.
The divisions Currys and PC World were not accessed during the attack. So customers from the separate system are not at danger.

The Cyber Crime Unit of the Metropolitan Police has been notified. No formal allegation of theft have been made as of yet.
