The smartphones made in a Xiaomi plant from Andra Pradesh will start rolling out on Monday.
Xiaomi entered the Indian smartphones market last year. The first ‘Made in India’ smartphone is being launched by the company. The smartphone is called Redmi 2.

Redmi 2 was manufactured at Sri City in Andhra Pardesh and will be available in the market coming Monday. The manufacturing facility in Sri City has been operational since July. The first batch of smartphones made in the facility will start rolling out.
Xiaomi launched the Redmi 2 at a press event. Redmi 2 Prime, an upgraded version of its entry-level smartphone. The smartphones have a ‘Made in India’ label at the back. Soon the facility in the Sri City will start making the Redmi 2.
Redmi 2 is the most sold smartphone by Xiaomi. More than 3 million units of Redmi were sold since its launch in March 2015. The manufacturing plant in India is the second Xiaomi plant outside of China. The first plant is in Brazil, reported NDTV.
During a media briefing Karthikeya Mishra Director Industries and CEO of AP Invest shared some views. The initiative shows the strength of the electronic manufacturing policy adopted by the government. According to Xiaomi all the smartphones sold in India will now be made in India.

Hugo Barra the Vice President of Xiaomi praised the Indian Government for its role. The government moved and worked like a start-up with Xiaomi. The speed shown by the Indian government is unheard of in the market. It took Xiaomi three times longer to establish a plant in Brazil.
