He is coming off a huge couple months, writing the groundbreaking and box-office breaking Broadway hit Hamilton. Now, he is writing songs for the mouse! He will join up with Mark Mancina, who worked on The Lion King as well as Opetaia Foa’i, founder of the New Zealand-based South Pacific Fusion band Te Vaka.

The title of the movie is currently Moana. The announcement was made at Walt Disney Animation Studio’s D23 Expo, where they also got a sneak peak of the upcoming movie.
Moana, which is set to premiere next year and feature the voices of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Broadway alum Alan Tudyk, is about a princess that comes from a long line of explorers. Like many other princesses, she will have to go out and explore the world on a daring mission. The story will take place on the ocean. According to Broadway, John Musker and Ron Clements are set to direct.
Lin made the announcement using Twitter, where he rapped a little bit about the movie while walking around the theatre where he performs:
He also revealed on his Twitter that he found out about the offer while he was writing Hamilton and the same week he found out his wife was pregnant!
