The singer was reportedly heading to Los Angeles. One of his crew members got upset after he was denied preferred boarding.
“His team requested an escort and were denied and they believed they were being treated unfairly,” reports People. “When they voiced their concerns to the airline they were told they could not fly and proceeded on the plane anyway. At that point, Southwest agent called the authorities and removed them.”
Later, Jason Derulo shared his side of the story with ET at Teen Choice Award red carpet.
“It was a little mishap. We were literally just trying to not cause a ruckus. My security was literally just trying to tell the agent, ‘Can we go to this section so we don’t cause a ruckus?’ There’s a lot of picture taking and that stuff going on. They weren’t being very accommodating.”
According to Southwest, Derulo and group were not following the boarding procedures and their behavior was not appropriate too. Therefore, local authorities decided to not allow them to board.
After being kicked off the Southwest flight, Derulo booked a private jet and flew to Los Angeles. He posted a selfie on his Instagram from the luxurious plane, saying. “Had to fire my travel agent for booking me somewhere I wasn’t supposed to be, but now I’m here.”
Jason Derulo told Entertainment Tonight.
“I didn’t say anything to anybody. So they kicked me off a plane. Southwest, you got some problems! But it’s all good. I learned from the experience. And I’m getting myself a jet so I won’t have that problem.”
