The film Straight Outta Compton was recently released. The film is based on the music rap group N.W.A. back in the late 80’s. The film shows the rise and fall of the music group from the 80’s to the 90’s. Straight Outta Compton also focuses on the struggle the group faced as a black group.

After its release the film became a surprise hit with a box office of $60 million in its first week. Ice Cube plays the role of father, while his son O’Shea Jackson plays his younger self. When Ice Cube sat down for an interview he shared how eerie it is to see his son playing his younger version.
The events of the film are set 30 years ago. The entire film feels like their younger carbon copies are portraying what happened. Ice Cube also commented on how everyone points out his son sounds exactly like him when he was young.
Ice Cube shared with LATimes how he did not conceal his past from his kids. Since the film contains a lot of sex, drugs and heavy weaponry. The key was for his wife and himself to tell his kids about his past in the right way.
Ice Cube revealed how rapper WC helped him in turning the younger cast to sound like the rap scene in circa 1985. WC has been working with ice cube for more than 20 years. The making of the film was definitely a tightrope walk for Ice Cube.
The rapper/actor tried to remain authentic while keeping it entertaining. Ice Cube declared he is very happy with the film. whoever goes to see the film will laugh, cheer and cry at the same time.
