What is Swatch up to? The Swiss watch giant has trademarked Steve Jobs' famous "One More Thing" phrase.
In July Swatch CEO Nick Hayek said in an interview that the Swatch Smartwatch will launch in summer. We are in the final weeks of summer. Where is it?

Hayek told the Wall Street Journal a month ago that there are 20,000 Swatch Smartwatches in stock and almost ready to ship. The company was working on security details. He calls the watch Swatch NFC, which points to a low tech device that has not much in common with the Apple Watch.
The Swatch NFC will launch in United States, China and Switzerland. The core functionality is payment. There is no information yet if there are other smart features like fitness tracking.
Swatch was touting big things about their smartwatch in February. Hayek said back then the Swatch smartwatch is internet connected and does not need to be charged. This was two months before the Apple Watch launched.
Hayek questions the full featured smartwatch concept. He does not believe to replicate smartphone functions in a watch and he made a big deal around having to recharge smartwatches daily in the past.
Patently Apple reports now that Swatch has registered a trademark for the phrase "One More Thing." This is a famous Steve Jobs phrase that he used to introduce one more device at media events. Why is Swatch trademarking this? Are they planning a marketing campaign for their smartwatch that pokes at Apple? It is hard to believe that Swatch would register that specific phrase without having Apple on their mind.
Swatch could any day now make the Smartwatch announcement. Will Swatch be able to carve out a place between the Apple Watch and single feature wearables? We will have to wait and see.
