According to scientists the only way to prevent a hangover is to drink less alcohol.
People who boast that they are immune to hangovers are just kidding themselves. This is because there is no way to avoid the nausea and pounding headache as per the scientists. Around one quarter of people claim that they are able to have alcohol without having a hangover.

But according to scientists they are just not drinking enough for it to have an impact. So the people who claim that water and eating help in avoiding the hangover are also not drinking enough.
To find out whether some people were immune to a hangover or not scientists in the Netherlands and Canada had to check drinking habits. So they monitored the drinking habits of more than 1600 Dutch and Canadian students.
The researchers calculated the estimated Blood Alcohol Concentration in those who were experiencing hangovers and those who didn’t. The researchers found that four-fifths of those who claimed not to experience hangovers had an estimated blood alcohol level of less than 0.10 percent.
This amount is actually equal to about two large glasses of wine. After the research, the lead author Dr. Joris Verster, of Utrecht University, the Netherlands stated that they have found a quite straight relationship. This relationship was that the more one drinks the more likely they are to get a hangover.
Moreover the researchers also looked at whether eating or drinking water after drinking alcohol makes one immune to a hangover. After this experiment the researchers came to know that hangover severity was virtually no different between those who drank or ate something and those who didn’t.
Previous research on this topic had suggested that drinking pear juice was a cure. Before a heavy night of drinking one could actually reduce effects of a hangover by pear juice. The Australian government scientists had undertaken this research.
They stated that people suffering the effects of the night before could be helped by pear juice. This is because fruit helps in increasing concentration. So with this new research it is pretty much clear that the only way to stay away from a hangover is by not drinking too much alcohol.
