  • Apple reportedly bid for Clarkson and the Top Gear trio!

It seems the tech giant is also trying to expand into the division of original programming.

Variety recently revealed the Apple also bid for the Top Gear trio. Earlier it was revealed the Top Gear trio had been acquired by Amazon. Amazon will make a new show with the trio on the Prime Instant Video.

The news was a surprise since everyone believed Netflix or Sky would win the bid. Now it seems there was another party interested in the Top Gear trio. Sources claim Apple had also bid for the Top Gear trio at the time. Obviously the offer by Apple was turned down by the stars when they left BBC.

The move seems to indicate Apple is trying to build its own original programming. Why else would the tech giant even be interested in the three British presenters? Although the Top Gear trio went with Amazon, Apple may still surprise us.

Sources also claim the company is in preliminary talks with Hollywood executives. Apple is interested in producing entertainment content. It seems Eddy Cue a top executive at Apple is in charge.

Cue famously responded to Taylor Swift resulting in a progressive move for the music industry. High level executives say Apple is to create development and production divisions for entertainment. Apple would then be able to make long form streaming content. If possible then Apple will be able to compete with Netflix.

The source also revealed Apple will be recruiting more employees in the coming months. The employees will be hired for the streaming division. Although it is not clear whether Appleā€™s focus would be on TV or Movies.  Apple representatives declined to comment on the issue.
