Sony revealed three new Xperia smartphones. These were Z5 and Z5 Compact, but also a brand new addition to the Xperia family, the flagship Z5 Premium.
The new Xperia Z5 Premium's 5.5 inch display has a resolution of 3840 x 2160 and insane pixel density of 808 per inch.
The Sony's screen has the same resolution as some of the biggest and most expensive televisions today. Another new feature is the integrated fingerprint sensor power button.
The Xperia Z5 Premium comes as a surprise from Sony. Sony, a year ago, said that it wasn't putting a Quad HD screen (2560 x 1440 resolution) on the Xperia Z3 because users can't differentiate between the regular and general Full HD.
With respect to the specifications of Z5 Premium, it has a 23-megapixel camera. It is the first time Sony has upgraded from its trusty 20.7MP snapper in quite a long while.
There is also a 5MP selfie camera on the front. The back camera can shoot in 4K, in spite of the fact that whether Sony has settled the Z3+'s overheating issues when recording in 4K remains to be seen.
The phone is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor and Adreno 430 GPU. It also has 3GB RAM and 32GB of internal memory.
This can be expanded by means of a microSD card slot by up to 200GB. A 3,430mAH battery seems to be useful for two entire days of constant use.
However we cannot accept this news without testing for a week. Likewise with the whole Z5 family, the Premium is waterproof for 30 minutes in up to one meter of fresh water.
There is a mirrored finish on the back of Z5. It will be accessible in black, chrome and gold. There is no exact price or release date yet.
Sony claims that Z5 premium will release globally in November. It will have a price which puts it alongside other high-end handsets.
The Z5 and 4.6-inch Z5 Compact does not have much difference. The Z5 is similar to Z4 with 15.2-inch screen but it weighs 154 grams.
The only difference between the Z5 duo and Premium is the lack of 4K display and the battery size. Z5 has a 2900 mAh unit while the Z5 Compact has a 2700 mAh.
Xperia Z5 and Z5 compact shares the same processor like the Z5 Premium but the Z5 compact has 2GB of RAM instead of 3GB.
All three phones features the old signature Omni Balance design from Sony which is disappointing actually. The Z5 is available in white, black, gold, and green color.
