Matt Damon will reprise his role as Jason Bourne. Vincent Cassel will portray the villain, an assassin who is tracking Bourne. The news was confirmed by Variety, citing the French actor has signed on to star in ‘Bourne 5’.
Previously Matt Damon revealed that shooting for the film will begin sometime in the current week. But new reports suggest production on the film will now start later in the summer.
Although there are no details on the plot, Damon shared that the story will be set in a post Snowden world. Edward Snowden used to be a CIA analyst and leaked confidential documents on how US spies on the American public.
The film will follow the theme of spying on the public, civil liberties and democracy. Julia Stiles will also reprise her role of Nicky Parsons. In the 2007 film, it was hinted that Jason Bourne was romantically involved with Nicky Parson. It remains to be seen if the plot will go down that road. New members of the cast also include Alicia Vikander and Tommy Lee Jones.
Damon also shared the filming will start in Greece and will end in Las Vegas. Paul Greengrass will direct the film. Greengrass will also co write the script with Christopher Rouse. Frank Marshall and Jeffrey M. Weiner will act as the producers of the sequel. A release date of July 29th 2016 has been set by Universal Studios.
