A plane carrying crew members from a Tom Cruise movie crashed in Colombia on Friday.
A small plane carrying members from a film shooting in Colombia recently crashed. The crash took place on Friday. The news was broken by the Colombian aviation authority and the movie studio Universal Pictures.

The crew members were apparently coming back from shooting scenes of a film starring Tom Cruise. The crash resulted in the death of two crew members. The plane was a small twin engine propeller plane, according to TMZ.

According to Universal Pictures Studio the crew members belonged to the project movie ‘Mena’. The crew had wrapped up shooting in Colombia and were on their way back. Universal Pictures released a statement to NYDailyNews sharing the sad news. The statement gives out condolences on behalf of the entire production team to the families of the victims.
“An aircraft carrying crew members crashed while returning to Enrique Olaya Herrera Airport in Medellin following production wrap on the film Mena resulting in two fatalities," said a spokersperson for Universal Pictures, Mena’s distributor.
The Colombia's Civil Aviation Authority confirmed the crash. They authority also revealed along with 2 deaths a third person was also injured in the crash. One of the deceased includes the pilot of the plane. Alan D. Purwin was the pilot of the plane which crashed.
The plane was owned by Helinet Aviation. Jack Snyder, an executive at the Aviation shared the news about the pilot. Purwin had been a professional pilot who had worked on several TV series and movies.
Purwin provided sweeping areal footage as a pilot carrying camera teams. Purwin worked in his first project "Airwolf" in 1984. Purwin also contributed to the films "Jurassic World," "Zero Dark Thirty" and "Indecent Proposal."

The plane crashed in the town of San Pedro de los Milargros. The town is located in the region of Antioquia. The plane took off from the city of Medellin. The exact reason of the crash is yet to be determined.
