The Facebook Dislike button is almost mythical. Zuckerberg says today it is real and they are working on it.
Mark Zuckerberg said today at a town hall meeting at Facebook HQ that the company is working on a Dislike Button. End of last year, Zuckerberg also discussed the dislike button at a town hall meeting.

The introduction of a Dislike button has many implications and Facebook is very careful here. A Dislike button could help clean Facebook from hate speech, bullying and more. It could though also easily be misused.
There is no official announcement about the state of the Facebook dislike button. CNBC tweeted from the town hall meeting only that Zuckerberg said quote: "the social network is working on a 'dislike' button." This means basically nothing, as the dislike button has been in discussion for years.
Last year the discussion about the Dislike button was not in tune with what most people thought a dislike button would do. Zuckerberg talked about having an option to show dislike on content that is about a bad thing or situation. A like on a death report is just not that appropriate. A dislike with that meaning seems though very confusing.
