For a change I am attending a conference in person. I am at the Bits & Pretzels startup event in Munich with 3,500 attendees. This Oktoberfest flavored founders event tries to highlight Munich's startup scene.
Munich has a new startup event that grew within a year from 1,400 to 3,500 attendees. I am live at the 3-Day Bits & Pretzels founders festival that combines the best of Munich with the startup world. Attendees will be treated to workshops and sessions during the day and party at night.

The grand finale is a day at the Munich Oktoberfest. Imagine 3,500 entrepreneurs take over the famous Schottenhamel tent at the world famous Wiesn.
In a couple minutes the official program will begin, which is a mix of local and international presenters. Speakers at the conference include Adidas CEO Herbert Hainer, Evernote CEO Phil Libin, Zendesk CEO & Co-founder Mikkel Svane, Ayden CEO & Co-founder Pieter Van Der Does, Runtastic CEO & Co-founder Florian Gschwandtner, FC Bayern Munich President Karl Hopfner, TechCrunch Editor at Large Mike Butcher, and many more.
There is supposed to be a live video stream from the Bits & Pretzels conference program. I will update this story once the live stream is available. The live video feed should be available on the Bits & Pretzels homepage.
I will not live blog the event, but provide my impressions and experience on a regular basis during the next 3 days.
Bits & Pretzels Conference Updates:
I am sitting in the huge main stage, but it is rather empty at 15 minutes before the event begins. It certainly is far from the 3,500 people who have apparently registered for the event. Maybe Munich's entrepreneurs like to sleep in. After all it is Sunday.
After the Bits & Pretzels event founders' welcome, the Bavarian Minister Ilse Aigner takes the stage. Another reason to come late?
Now the room has filled up and the event starts. Live stream is available on the Bits & Pretzels site.
Organizers announce more than 3,600 attendees from over 50 nations. There are over 100 speakers that will take the stage over the three day festival.

Mikkel Svane, CEO & Founder of Zendesk kicks off the keynotes. He has a great success story to tell.
Adidas CEO Herbert Hainer talks about his career and about his plans with Runtastic. The Runtastic CEO Florian Gschwandtner did a short, but fun speech just before.
Bits & Pretzels is literally about Pretzels. The break buffet is filled with thousands of "Bretzn."

The first day of Bits & Pretzels ended with a very inspirational speech by Joe Gree, Founder & President of FWD.US. Joe Green is famous for creating Facemash with Mark Zuckerberg in College. He later declined to work with Zuckerberg on Facebook. His speech was about the coming age of Abundance and how to prepare society for it.
