Is iPhone 6S Waterproof?

Did Apple make the new iPhone more waterproof than previous models?

Sony is marketing the hell out of their smartphones being waterproof. A Youtube video shows that the iPhone 6S can survive 1 hour underwater and still function. I have killed an iPhone 5 by keeping it for a short while in a damp bath pant pocket.

The waterproof test by Zach Straley is not scientific, but demonstrates a new level of water resistance in the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus. Water is a big enemy of smartphones. This is why Sony stands out with their waterproof phone. It's just one less thing to worry about.

You probably should not take your iPhone 6S snorkeling, but it appears to survive an accidental drop in the toilet.

While the test shows that the new iPhone has no water damage, there is a risk of longterm damage to microphones and speakers. So don't try this at home. Just ease your mind, that your new iPhone 6S will not die immediately when submerged.

Live Photos, 3D Touch, 12-megapixel iSight camera, 5-megapixel FaceTime HD camera with Retina Flash and more are powered by the new Apple-designed A9 chip. The A9 combined with 2GB of RAM have a performance matching that of the MacBook.

iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are designed from the strongest glass on any smartphone and 7000 series aluminum, the same alloy used in the aerospace industry, in gorgeous metallic finishes that now include rose gold.
