Apple Watch 2 Comes Late 2016 Says Report

These are the reports that Apple loves to see ahead of the crucial Holiday season.

The Apple Watch will be the hottest gadget gift for the Holidays 2015. What if a new Apple Watch 2 is nowhere near in sight? This would make an Apple Watch an even better gadget gift. Apple introduced the Apple Watch in April. Therefore Apple fans expect to see a new Apple Watch 2 in Spring of 2016.

Cowen and Company has released according to AppleInsider a research memo saying that the Apple Watch 2 will be released mid- to late 2016. The firm is basing their assumptions on information from the Asian supply chain.

According to the memo, the new Apple Watch 2 would be thinner and offer better performance. So far the rumor mill has nothing to say about the Apple Watch 2 besides an obvious improvement of battery life.

The question is where Apple wants to go next with the Apple Watch. Will the Apple Watch 2 going to be independent from the iPhone with integrated cellular connectivity and GPS?

Or will the Apple Watch 2 just a performance upgrade with maybe some more sensors like an altimeter?

It is very plausible that Apple switches to a fall release for the Apple Watch. The competition is far behind it in terms of marketshare and there is nothing obviously wrong besides battery life with the Apple Watch. Cowen estimates that Apple sells 18 million Apple Watches in 2015. This number crushes all other smartwatch sales numbers.

With watchOS 2 just released, the number of new apps is still ramping up. Apple might be keeping the current Apple Watch longer around to have more time for developing a more robust next release of the Apple smartwatch.
