Elon Musk's Tesla Motors launched the Model X electric SUV last night and there have been some surprises.
After one hour delay, the Tesla Model X launch event kicked off with Elon Musk. He straight away dove into the safety features of the Model X. The Model X is exceeding the 5 star NHTSA crash safety rating. On top of that, the Model X has a button for dooms day. The Model X has a bioweapon defense button.

The Model X features the first true HEPA air filter. On top of that it as an actual Bioweapon Defense Mode said Elon Musk to the stunned audience at the Fremont headquarters of Tesla Motors.
The filter is 10 times as big as a standard car air filter. As the Model X does not have a gasoline engine there is a tons of space available for gadgetry like this. Geeks love these kind of features you will never need, but it is great to have it.
The Model X has a panoramic windshield and opens the doors automatically depending on how the driver is approaching the car. There are plenty of little cool features like this.
Customers who pre-ordered a Model X years ago, took delivery finally today. The Model X comes in three variants and starts at about $100,000. The range is comparable to the Model S with about 250 miles (400km).
The established car makers have been put on notice with the innovative Model X. The only thing that is holding back Tesla is production capacity. Everything else, the company has figured out. They just launched the most desirable SUV on the market.
The Model X can be reserved with a $5,000 reservation payment on the Tesla site. Reserving now will get you a Model X at the end of 2016. There are 25,000 pre-orders of the Model X to date and it will take up to a year to produce these.
