Volkswagen will recall all the cars which give off more diesel emissions than allowed. Now Volkswagen has also truthfully revealed the exact number of cars which will be recalled. More than 1.2 million cars in the UK will be recalled.
According to Volkswagen a total of 1,189,906 British cars will be recalled. All of the cars have the EA 189 EU5 engines. The recall will take place in the coming week. Right now Volkswagen is focusing all of its energy on directing affected customers about the recall.
Volkswagen claims it is trying to create a "self-serve process" for car owners. Although the Volkswagen cars emit more than allowed they are still technically safe for the road.
Volkswagen found itself in quite a pickle when it was found the auto giant was falsifying emission tests. The fact was found out by the US Environmental Protection Agency. The agency found the Volkswagen cars automatically turned on the emission control system.
The system was turned on when being tested. Afterwards it would revert to normal mode. In the normal mode the vehicles emitted high levels of nitrogen oxide. Nitrogen Oxide is a dangerous air pollutant which causes respiratory ailments.
