Target Price Match gets Aggressive ahead of Black Friday 2015

Target announced today a new, more aggressive price match policy for Target stores and the Target online shop.

Retailers are getting ready as the crucial Holiday shopping season and Black Friday come in sight. Today Target announced an update to their Price Match policy. Under the new price match policy Target customers can also get a price adjustment on online purchases on

Target is also expanding the list of stores that they accept for Price Match. For the first time the list includes membership clubs Costco and Sam's Club. At the same time though the policy says that prices are excluded where a paid membership club or paid loyalty programs (e.g. prices that require a club or loyalty card that is associated with a membership fee) is required.

This clause somehow invalidates the inclusion of membership clubs.

Another tricky part is the extended competitor list. Target says that they price match now with 24 competing stores. On though, they only price match with,,,, and

Target clearly expanded their Price Match policy, but it is still not a no brainer. Our recommendation is to just try it and see if you get an adjustment. Especially Target Redcard members should consider that option. Target Redcard members save an additional 5%.

The retailer is also expanding the time to claim a price match to 2 weeks.

The new Target Price Match policy does not mention Black Friday and Cyber Monday. This either means the price match policy applies also during that crazy sales time, or Target will issue a statement before Black Friday 2015 that says that the policy does not apply for Black Friday deals.

The full list of stores that Target Price matches in stores include:,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, and

The official Black Friday 2015 (November 27) is in less than 2 months. The first Black Friday 2015 sales are though already expected to launch on Friday, October 30.
