Fast-rising pop star Nicki Minaj took a swipe at Miley Cyrus at the MTV VMAs event, and made it clear in no little terms that it is high time Cyrus started to learn more about black culture and give black people the respect they deserve on the music scene and on radio waves among others.

Minaj had failed to secure a nomination for Video of the Year award, and she had taken the stage to lament about the industry’s lack of attention to black female excellence, saying “Black women influence pop culture so much but are rarely rewarded for it.”
Then Miley Cyrus, a white woman always wearing dreadlocks and twerks, condemned Minaj’s rhetorics at the VMAs, “because of the anger that came with it,” making it “not very polite” for Minaj to have talked the way she did.
This seemed to infuriate Minaj because at the awards ceremony, she referred to Cyrus as “This bitch that had a lot to say about me the other day in the press…” She was not fully allowed to complete her statements because the organizers cut power to her microphone, yet Minaj could be seen mouthing the words “Don’t play with me, bitch.”
Then in a T Magazine piece she later did, Minaj took her time to lecture Cyrus about white privilege, saying that "The fact that you feel upset about me speaking on something that affects black women makes me feel like you have some big balls. You’re in videos with black men, and you’re bringing out black women on your stages, but you don’t want to know how black women feel about something that’s so important?
"Come on, you can’t want the good without the bad. If you want to enjoy our culture and our lifestyle, bond with us, dance with us, have fun with us, twerk with us, rap with us, then you should also want to know what affects us, what is bothering us, what we feel is unfair to us. You shouldn’t not want to know that."

Whatever the problem is between them, people have called Minaj to order; reminding her that she has music to record, products to sell, and a host of other things to do besides taking Cyrus to the cleaners over matters of color in business.
