Arvind R Vohra, Gionee's India CEO and MD in his statement declared that Gionee will soon be assembling all the phones that will be sold in India at two unnamed locations in the country before March 2016.
He also said that by that point they will be selling just ‘Made in India' phones in the region. Lastly, he made the announcement that one such phone will be released just before Diwali.
The company last month partnered with Foxconn and Dixon so that it can officially start manufacturing its own handsets in India.
Both of the partner companies have their own role to play in this venture. The Dixon facility will take care of the feature phones and other smartphones.
The focus of the Foxconn facility will be entirely on handling F and P series phones. The CEO, Vohra, apart from announcing the debut of the upcoming phone also said that the company is also interested in entering the wearable sector very soon.
