Senator Chuck Schumer has issued a warning to all concerned parents regarding Halloween makeup that has been made in China. It contains chemicals and additives that are harmful to health.
It has been found that the body adornments in the form of facial paints used by kids on Halloween can be a scary proposal. Senator Charles Schumer has said so in a clear statement that has gotten all the parents of trick-or-treat kids in a tizzy. Most of the scary makeup items are made in China and they contain nasty chemicals such as lead, nickel, cobalt and chromium.

These chemicals are a health fiasco waiting to happen. They are harmful and not meant to come into contact with the skin or eyes. According to Schumer, these toxic chemicals may make children throw up or break out in a bad case of hives. However, as a marketing ploy, the names of the caustic chemicals are not given among the ingredient list on the packaging.
“These toxic ingredients can make a child sick, but they’re never listed on the package,” Schumer told media while showing makeup palettes by Rubie’s Costume Company, Wet N’ Wild Fantasy Makers, and Fun World as examples.
This makes the whole thing look like a double swindle that might end up fleecing innocent people as well as ruining their health status in the process.
Schumer took several such “Made in China” products and exposed them before the media. There are a lot of chances that these products can end up doing a great deal of damage to children who put them on their skin thinking they are benign. The only difference is they are potentially deadly.
“Parents are totally clueless as to what they’re putting on their child’s face. If they see it on the shelf they think it’s safe, but it’s not,” Schumer said. “When you buy makeup for your kids, make sure it doesn’t say made in China.”
The worried senator is going to be writing a letter to the FDA to consider more stringent guidelines as far as allowing such faulty products into the country. Rules and regulations are needed and the FDA had better get tough on such lack of responsibility on the part of Halloween makeup manufacturers in foreign lands.
The whole thing has to be brought before the public eye. The perpetrators of such fraudulent practices ought to have their faces exposed to the consumers as well. This is so that in the future anyone else will think twice before buying such questionable products.
Sen. Schumer has told parents of young kids to be more vigilant regarding such cosmetic items. The fact that most of the patrons are in the dark about the consequences of Halloween cosmetic products shows the amount of ignorance that is rife among the consumer base.
