The pattern is the same as two of his other athlete friends that passed away this summer due to drug overdoses. Lamar was lucky enough to be found in time to be taken to the hospital in Nevada.
Many would remember that initial reports stated that Lamar had been tried to be airlifted out of the ranch to Nevada. The helicopter however could not bear his 6 feet 10 inches tall structure.
He had then been transported to a hospital in Los Vegas in an ambulance, according to ESPN. Since then he has been flanked by his estranged wife Khloe Kardashian and his family and friends. His ex-teammates and coaches all have been in to see him and pray for his recovery.
Their prayers finally paid off as Lamar’s condition has bettered in the past few days. Now his organs are stabilizing and he is breathing without a ventilator. Since Khloe Kardashian is making all his making decisions, it was decided that Lamar should be flown back home to L.A. where his family and friends are all present. He was flown to L.A. in a helicopter around 5 p.m. on Monday.
This helicopter was bigger in size and could compensate Lamar’s large structure. He was accompanied by Khloe Kardashian in a private room in a L.A. hospital later that night.
Lamar has a long recovery ahead of him which will include therapy. Sources close to him are optimistic stating that Lamar is a fighter. They are sure that he will pull through from what might be the biggest battle of his life.
"Lamar has always been blessed with a tenacious, fighting spirit, overcoming insurmountable obstacles to achieve the impossible," JaNean Mercer, Odom's maternal aunt and godmother, said in a statement. "These past few days have been no different. ... [He is] defying the odds in his toughest battle to date."
Former college coach of Lamar Odom, Jim Harrick, told CNN that "the 35-year-old athlete has made 'a little bit of progress' and has told his estranged wife, Khloe Kardashian, 'I love you.'"
"We're more hopeful now," Harrick added. "We've been on pins and needles for days."
Where Lamar’s condition is getting better, many are now asking who is to blame for his current condition. If people around him knew that he was spiralling, why did they make no effort to stop him or help him. These speculation are concerned with who will support Lamar through extensive therapy that he will require to recover.
