The Youtube Red subscription also includes recently launched Gaming app and the upcoming YouTube Music app. YouTube Red also works with Google Play Music.
Beginning in 2016, Youtube Red will include member-only access to new, original shows and movies from some of YouTube’s biggest creators. The list of creators include top earner PewDiePie, Lazer Team and many more.
Youtube Red will launch in the United States only on October 28. The service launches with a 1-month free trial.
Will the new $9.99 per month Youtube break Youtube? Depends. As long as most content is available free with ads, it will be fine. If most of the hot content shifts into the subscription realm, it will become problematic.
Just take, for instance. the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer. What if Youtube strikes a deal with Disney and gives Youtube Red earlier access to the trailer. This is when things start to get messy, and internet users are forced into a paid subscription or move to other video platforms.
