The tragic sinking of a whale watching vessel occurred recently off the Canadian coast. 27 people were on board the boat.

Five people ended up as casualties in the boat that capsized off the Canadian coast. The total number of people on the sea-faring vessel was 27. The incident took place off the West Coast of Canada.

There was a missing person among the victims of the tragedy, according to NYTimes. 21 people were rescued in the nick of time. The search for the missing person is being carried out with great vigilance.

Info related to those that had drowned was not available. The sinking vessel was still partially on the surface when it was found. The nearby town of Tofino had residents who were Good Samaritans and helped immensely in the rescue efforts. This shows that the people were warm-hearted and cared about others.

Altruism it seems is not extinct from this world just yet. About 18 people were shifted to the Tofino General Hospital, according to FoxNews. Right now they have been rehabilitated and are not in any danger. Three have been transferred to other hospitals while 15 were discharged with a clean bill of health.

Other people may be allowed to go home from the hospital too. When the incident took place a May Day call got made. That is when the boats started arriving and succor was provided to the afflicted. But several of them were true survivors and they made it out of the conundrum.

The faces of the survivors registered shock and surprise. They were in a state of trauma. The search for the missing persons led to the sad discovery that five people had already passed away. It was a strange thing for the ship to sink so easily since it was such a stable vessel.

Over the years, tens of thousands of people have made similar trips on large vessels for purposes of whale watching. This is a rare occurrence indeed. For the ship to have capsized is something that is out of the ordinary.

A similar incident happened in 1998 when a vessel sank and one passenger along with the operator died. This time around, the paramedics arrived to handle any emergency situations.

A dozen rescue boats sped towards the site of the tragedy. It is a source of sorrow and the hearts of all Canadians go out to the friends and family members of those who have died in this mishap. May the souls of the deceased find peace in the Hereafter.
