Car manufacturers from around the world showed off the most innovative technologies of our generation.
The Tokyo Motor Show 2015 is in full swing. Already numerous cars have been showcased at the exhibition. It seems the major focus at the show is innovative technology in cars. International automakers seem to be following the theme of technology at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show.

Some of the most impressive features displayed are related to autonomous technology. Other important vehicles are environmentally friendly with clean emissions. The Tokyo Motor Show has been giving off a pop-culture vibe. Some of the cars are downright luxury or inspired by anime, rather than the traditional sport inspired cars.
Some very prominent models at the Tokyo Motor Show 2015 have been reviewed below.
Nissan IDS Concept
The number one car to be reviewed on our list is the Nissan Autonomous-Drive Concept Car. The self-driving technology car embodies Nissan’s vision of the future. The car comes with a special button which will allow drivers to switch to autonomous mode. When the autonomous mode has been turned on the steering wheel tucks inside the dashboard panel. Developments on the car will start by 2020.
Similarly the Honda Clarity Fuel Cell is the latest innovation by Honda. The car runs on hydrogen and only emits water droplets. The car has a mileage of more than 435 miles on 1 tank of hydrogen. The new Clarity saloon will be available in the market by 2016.
Lexus LF-FC Concept Car
Lexus has also introduced a new fuel cell car concept. The concept has been dubbed Lexus LF-FC. The fuel cell car has a huge grille. The grille is a staple design for the Toyota brand. Lexus is still working on the manufacturing of the car so a release date has not been issued.
Similarly Mazda revealed its new sportier Mazda RX-Vision concept car. The new Mazda will have a more stylish feel. The Mazda RX-Vision will be a sharply designed red car. The Mazda RX-Vision will have a rotary engine, which contains triangular-shaped rotors. The rotors rotate to compress fuel and deliver power.
Toyota Kikai Concept
Toyota also displayed the Toyota Kikai concept car. The word ‘Kikai’ means machine in Japanese. The design of the car seems like it come to life out of an animation film. Especially parts such as the metal exhaust pipes and springs in the Toyota Kikai give a funky vibe. The features are also visible from the outside. The front and back of the car also resemble a face. As for the eyes of the face, the head lamp and the tail lamps do the job perfectly.
Suzuki IGNIS-Trail Concept
Similarly the Suzuki IGNIS-Trail Concept was displayed in all of its glory. The IGNIS-Trail Concept showed a car with larger wheels paired with bold wheel-arch mouldings. The IGNIS-Trail concept also has an aesthetically contrasting color scheme. The color scheme particularly highlights the overall look of the car design.
MINI Cooper S Convertible
The new MINI Cooper S convertible was physically displayed at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show. The new MINI will go on sale by March 2016. The starting price of the new MINI will start from £18,475. The new MINI Cooper S has been described as a top of the range convertible. The new MINI boasts of 189 horse powers with a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine.
Another major highlight of the new MINI is the fully electric roof. The roof is an improvement from the previous MINI model. The hood can be retracted in only 18 seconds even while driving at 30kmph. A new sensor based roll over protection system has also been included in the new MINI.
BMW M4 GTS
The Tokyo Motor Show was also the debut platform for the BMW M4 GTS. The BMW M4 GTS is the most performance oriented offering from BMW’s M division. The price of the BMW M GTS starts from 142,000 Euros. The price range is similar to the i8 series in range.
The latest BMW model supports 493 horse power. The BMW also has a 0-100 kmph acceleration time of 3.7 seconds. The vehicle comes in four distinct colors. The colors are a Frozen Dark Grey Metallic, Mineral Grey metallic, Sapphire Black Metallic and Alpine White. The M4 GTS has specialized 20 inch alloy rims painted in an Acid orange color.
Honda CIVIC TYPE R
Honda also presented the CIVIC TYPE R at the Tokyo Motor Show. The CIVIC TYPE R is described as the fastest front-wheel-drive production automobile by Honda. The aesthetics of the new Honda CIVIC TYPE R are similar to a sports car.
The design exudes a sports car. But also maintains the trademark optimum aerodynamic characteristics by Honda. The CIVIC TYPE R comes with a 2.0-L VTEC Turbo engine. The engine boasts 310bhp and 400Nm of torque.
Honda NSX Sports Car
Another car presented by Honda was the new NSX sports car. The new Honda has the main elements from the first-generation NSX with a modern touch. The new NSX will have a more lightweight aluminium and steel body. The new NSX will also contain the new twin-turbocharged inline V6 engine.
According to Honda, it gives the ultimate driving experience due to the SPORT HYBRID SH-AWD. The front wheels of the Honda NSX come with its own independent, highly efficient electric motor. The car also features advanced torque vectoring. The vectoring delivers power to all of the wheels of the car equally.
Subaru Impreza 5-Door Concept
In late 2016 a new Subaru Impreza will also be released. The Subaru 2017 model was revealed at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show. Specific details about the new Fuji Heavy's compact car were not revealed at the event. Only the design of the new Subaru Impreza was revealed. The concept was dubbed as the Impreza 5-Door Concept. The design of the car mainly comes from a hatchback.
According to Subaru the design concept revealed is very important for the company. The design will not just be featured in the upcoming car but will be a direction for Subaru's future models. The fascia of the car has a more heavily designed look than the current models. The car is further signified by a petite rump due to slim taillights.
The physical unveiling of the manufactured car will be interesting considering the size of the taillights. Besides Subaru is famous for making outlandish design concepts but not delivering them. The concepts lose sight of their main theme by the time they reach the production phase. Subaru will have to prove whether the new concept will deliver or not.
The awaited luxury car concept with autonomous technology was finally revealed at the Tokyo Motor Show 2015. Mercedes-Benz has long been teasing with its Vision Tokyo concept. Not much was known about the concept except for its name and the promise to expect something innovative. The Vision Tokyo was finally unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show 2015.
The layout of the car showed an embodiment of a luxury lounge. The concept is a futuristic and evolutionary approach to driving. The Tokyo Vision concept car will feature autonomous driving technology.
The self-driving technology of the car will be extremely advanced. Moreover, the interior resembles a lounge more than a car. The Vision Tokyo will be a new interpretation of modern luxury from Mercedes-Benz. The Vision Tokyo car will be physically displayed at the Tokyo Motor Show on Friday November 7th.
