Car News China claims the concept in a series of leaked patent documents is the BMW concept.
Patent filings from the Chinese trademark office were recently leaked. Car News China is now claiming the patents are for the new fuel cell concept car by BMW. The concept is slated to debut at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show. The show will take place in a few weeks.
The series of leaked patents could be from the next BMW from the i-series sub-brand. The documents show the concept will be a compact three-door car. The car will look like the love-child of the ultra-efficient manufacturer’s i3 electric car and i8 hybrid sports car.
The design is narrow and has a cab-forward design. The design is also being called an aggressive interpretation of BMW’s current front end styling. The rear of the BMW is shown to be angular and taut. The entire body of the car has an aerodynamic teardrop shape. The two door caps on the side of the car indicate to a hybrid.
According to Car News China (via PCauto.com.cn) the concept car has an undeniable feel of 1990’s concept car. The 2015 LA Auto Show will start from the coming Wednesday the 18th of November. So fans won’t have to speculate whether the patents are for the BMW car for long. At the 2015 Frankfurt Auto Show BMW’s sales chief revealed the next BMW i cars are in the final stages of consideration.
