The Super Strypi rocket simply self-destructed upon its launch from Hawaii.

It was an experiment and it failed badly. The Super Strypi rocket fell to pieces on Tuesday. The occasion was its maiden voyage into space. Hawaii was the venue where this disaster took place.

Measuring 67 feet in length, the rocket was basically an economic method of sending off stuff into outer space. It made a sputtering start before things went awry and then the downward spiral ensued. The US Air Force confirmed that the mission was a failure and had aborted all by itself.

It remains a mystery what exactly went wrong in the inner functioning of the spacecraft. The dismal maiden voyage was a real dampener of spirits for the space enthusiasts. They were expecting for a clean launch but what they got instead was a slump.

An investigative committee will sit down and decide what went wrong in thr first place. Over 13 satellites were completely annihilated in the mission impossible of sorts. This crash vessel count included the famous HiakaSat which weighed 121 pounds and had a special camera on board.

The function of HiakaSat was as a testing ground for scientific and defence capabilities. Over $45 million had gone into the whole operation and with its failure it had all gone down the drain. The original date for the launch was two years ago.

But matters kept getting delayed. Finally, the slated date arrived on Tuesday and fate intervened. Disease can be cured, but fate as everyone knows is incurable. The high tech issues and time constraints that had been the norm seem to have been finally resolved only to end in the auto-disintegration of the rocket.

Yet all is not lost. The effort that went into the whole shebang was worth it since it led to the training and widening of the knowledge base of so many space technicians.

Besides the failure of the first flight does not mean that any future attempts will be a case of hit or miss. Hopefully in the times to come, greater caution and expertise will be exercised. Therefore, the chances of a successful launch will be a sure thing.

The Super Strypi effort was a component in the overall US military operations that were extant. It was meant to launch payloads weighing up to 660 pounds into orbit around the earth. We must remember that there is always a next time since failures are only stepping stones to success.
